So I'm using the Deuteronomy alpha 2.4 9b build on my nexus 6p running aosip 7.1. I've tried other versions as well but getting the same problem. BTW i have used this mod on my previous devices as well without problems. Image

Using a Root File Explorer go to /vendor/etc/audio_effects.conf and rename that file to /vendor/etc/audio_effects.conf.bak , then reboot Device.

Doing the same as stated above should also solve your issue.

I noticed this on my Pixel XL as well. I'm under the assumption that as long as status was "Normal" instead of "Abnormal", things were good. You'll notice, that if you start playing music and check the Driver status again that Processing will change to "YES". "NO" simply means that it's not processing sound at that current moment.
